Miss Brazil 1969 meets Tom Cruise in Rio


Former Miss Brazil and Miss Universe 1969 semifinalist actress Vera Fischer was among the VIP guests invited to Valkyrie's pre-opening in Rio de Janeiro, where she got the chance to meet Tom Cruise, the movie's leading actor.

Meet São Paulo's new fitness couple


On February 02, the new Fitness Boy and Girl São Paulo (Garoto e Garota Fitness SP 2009) were chosen by a star-studded jury, among them former Miss São Paulo and Miss Brazil 1982 first runner-up Solange Frazão, choreographer and model Daniel Manzioni ("The King of Drums" of Brazilian Carnaval) and the reigning Miss São Paulo Globe International, Marisol Savagin.

Winners were Gustavo Albonese and Gabriela Fontenelle, who will compete for the national finals in March. First runner-ups were Bruno Mendes and Nágila Coelho, and second runner-ups were Samuel Keppler and Denise Souza.

Magali out, Desiree in


Former Miss Puerto Rico and Miss Universe 1995 finalist Desiree Lowry and TV producer Luisito Vigoroeaux are the new owners of the Miss Universe franchise in Puerto Rico. According to them, there are many exciting plans for the next pageant.

Despite that, the reigning Miss Puerto Rico Mayra Matos will compete in Miss Universe 2009 under the guidance of Magali Febles, former owner of the franchise.

 

 

NZ heads to Manhunt


30-year-old personal trainer Kristian Bray has been confirmed as New Zealand's delegate for the next Manhunt International competition in Korea.

With Celtic, Italian and Maori heritage, Bray won the Manhunt Male Model Search in early 2008 thanks largely to his dancer skills: also known as Jericho, he's one of the top male dancers in CoverBoys' male revue show.

Who will be Mr. South Africa 2009?

Blonde Renata Carvalho won the "Garota Pholia 2009" pageant held last week at the Casa do Samba. Jessica Prado and Katia Alves are the runner-ups who will join the winner in many pre-Carnaval parades.

Venezuela honours male beauties


Venezuelan models Carlos Prato (Mister Sea World 2009) and Jesús Colmenares (Mr. Teen World) were honoured last February 5 at Los Palos Grandes, Caracas, for their successful trip to Peru, where they won the titles above competing with contestants from other countries.

G Magazine's website has released new photos of model Vinicius de Oliveira, winner of the Mister Rio Grande do Sul 2008 title.

Vinicius was dethroned after he decided to pose nude for "G Magazine", the leading magazine to feature explicit male nudity in Brazil.
